Chevrolet Blazer EV

Chevrolet Blazer EV

Chevrolet presented the Blazer EV, a dynamic SUV with up to 557 hp and a range of up to 515 km. It will be available in the US from 2023.

THEY HAVE A PLAN

As we wrote a couple of months ago ( here is the news) General Motors would be considering a return to the European market, after its farewell in 2017, by marketing only electric cars. If the plan goes through, one of the eligible models could be the new Chevrolet Blazer EV, a high-performance SUV that will be on sale in the US from 2023.

EQUIPMENT

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has a modern, sleek and sporty design as evidenced by the muscular but clean shapes. It is offered in four variants: 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS, each with a unique aesthetic. The LTs have a monochromatic exterior and 19-inch wheels as standard, while the sportier RS has a black grille, gloss black upholstery, aerodynamic side skirts, and 21-inch alloy wheels. The SS, which is positioned at the top, features a two-tone body with a black roof and black A-pillars, a grille with the SS logo, a front splitter, and massive 22-inch alloy wheels supported by Brembo brakes. As for the equipment, the RS and SS trim levels are equipped with a flat-bottomed steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats. The SS features heated rear seats and Adrenaline Red suede microfiber upholstery.

RELATIVE TO THE LYRIC

Like the Cadillac Lyriq, the Chevrolet Blazer EV is engineered on the Ultium platform, the foundation of GM's recent electric vehicles, and will be offered with front, rear, or all-wheel drive. In this platform, the battery pack is structural and helps to give the Blazer a low center of gravity.

FRONT, REAR OR FULL

The basic Chevrolet Blazer EV 1LT has a front-wheel drive range of approximately 398 km. The 2LT is equipped with front-wheel drive as standard, with full-wheel drive offered as an option, and can be equipped with a battery that increases the range to approximately 472 km. The RS is available with front, rear, or all-wheel drive and guarantees a range of up to 515 km. The top-of-the-range SS version is equipped as standard with all-wheel drive with a range of 467 km. The SS produces up to 557 hp and 878 Nm of torque, with 0-100 km / h in less than four seconds. For now, Chevrolet has announced that the Blazer EV has an 11.5 kW level 2 charging capacity (in AC) and compatibility with 190 kW DC fast chargers. With this last power, it will be possible to restore up to 126 km in 10 minutes.

THE ADAS

The Chevrolet Blazer EV will be offered with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which allows hands-free operation on more than 321,869 km of compatible roads in the United States and Canada. Other driving assistance systems are automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, the safety distance indicator, and lane keeping with an overrun warning. Added to these are the IntelliBeam headlights, automatic reverse braking, and the automated parking system.
