MG presents two new models for Europe, an SUV, and a station wagon

Both 100% electric, they promise a range of 400 km

Just a few weeks after the official announcement of the arrival of the MG brand in Euro, here is another important piece of news. As we know, the House is on the European market with two cars, the plug-in hybrid EHS, and the electric ZS EV, which are having great success in Northern Europe.

In the course of 2021, the range will expand again with the arrival of two other models, both of the C segment: the Marvel R Electric SUV (which you see in the photo above) and the G5 Electric station wagon. If you want to relive the unveiling, at the end of the article you will find the short video of the presentation but, in the meantime, here is everything we know.

MG Marvel R Electric, the design is its forte

The first model to be unveiled is the Marvel R Electric which, by design, makes a great leap forward compared to the current MGs. It is a midsize SUV 1.90 meters wide and about 4.67.9 cm long compared to the best seller on the market, the Volkswagen ID.4, by segment and philosophy. The wheelbase is 2.80 meters - the 3 net of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 are unattainable -, which allows five people to travel comfortably and with a discreet trunk available.

But let's get to the performance. The Marvel R Electric will be offered in two different configurations: with two engines and rear-wheel drive only or with three engines and all-wheel drive. In this case, the power reaches 212 kW (288 hp) and 665 Nm of maximum torque, for acceleration from 0 to 50 in 1.8 seconds and from 0 to 100 in 4.9. The maximum speed is 200 km / h.

There is still no information on the battery and charging power in direct current (DC), with the manufacturer declaring 400 km of autonomy with a full and a topping up of 80% of the total capacity in half an hour. The maximum charging power in alternating current (AC) is 11 kW three-phase.

The interior is spectacular, with a huge 19.4 "screen mounted vertically on the dashboard that dominates and communicates with the 12.3" full digital instrumentation behind the steering wheel. There is no shortage of all the most modern driving assistance systems and the possibility of supplying energy to the outside to recharge other electrical equipment or, in some cases, other electric cars (V2L).

G5 Electric: one of the first 100% electric family members

The second new model is a bit of a return to origins, both at the design level where the characteristic features of the ZS EV and EHS sisters are found and at the category level since, unfortunately, fewer and fewer station wagons are seen on the road.

It is called MG  G5 Electric and is a C segment intended primarily for fleets. It is 4.50 meters long, 1.80 wide, and 1.50 high, with a trunk that goes from 600 to 1,500 liters by folding down the rear backrests.

As for the Marvel R, information on the battery and charging power in direct current (DC) is not yet known, with the House declaring 400 km of autonomy with a full and a refill of 80% of the total capacity in half Now. The maximum charging power in alternating current (AC) is 11 kW three-phase. The electric motor delivers 135 kW (183 hp) and 280 Nm of torque.
