Kawasaki Ninja 700R, a new anti-RS 660 super sports Bike coming?

The rumor about a new super sports car would replace the current Kawasaki Ninja 650, inspired by the Aprilia RS 660.

Could a Kawasaki Ninja 700R arrive from Akashi? The half-handlebars are back in the spotlight. All this excitement around the supersport segment had not to be seen since the roaring 90s when mid-sized motorcycles with handlebars were the favorites of motorcyclists. The Aprilia RS 660 has reopened the " Pandora's box" by overwhelming other brands: after Yamaha, in fact, Kawasaki would also be thinking about the development of its sports average.

Awakened souls

The Aprilia RS 660 needed to awaken the dormant spirits of a segment thirty years ago reigned in the price lists and sales of motorcycles in every country.

The sportswoman from Noale was truly overwhelming, and the comments of the new owners on social media demonstrate it, enthusiastic about her skills from every point of view.

The RS 660 is the powerful engine (100 HP), an aggressive sporty aesthetic but with clean lines, a driving position that is not too radical, and electronic aids that until a few years ago seemed unthinkable for a motorcycle of this displacement.

With its technological sophistication previously reserved for superbikes, it has woken up the competition: if they do it, why can't we?

The first to take up the gauntlet was Yamaha, which filed the documents for its -YZF-R7, and now the rumors also involve another brand of the Rising Sun: Kawasaki could replace the current Ninja 650 with the Ninja 700R.

Time to develop

The Kawasaki models are mainly aimed at performance, whether naked or touring: the experience in the Superbike world championship, which the Akashi manufacturer has dominated for six consecutive years, demonstrates all its ability in the development of engines and management technology. Of motorcycles.

But Kawasaki's proposal is too unbalanced: in addition to the ZX-10R and the hyper sports or hyper naked, downwards there is no proposal of the same level of sophistication, so much so that the Ninja 650 from a technological point of view offers ABS and little else.

The Ninja 700R would exploit the current parallel-twin engine of the current Ninja 650, raising its displacement to 700 CC and its power to around 95 hp.

The frame would be the same steel multitubular that uses the Ninja 650. However, this Ninja 700R would have a higher level chassis than the current one with Nissin-signed four-piston radial calipers, fully adjustable inverted Showa fork full-LED headlights.

The design of the RS 660 has become the family feeling of the Noale production, as seen with its big sister, the RSV4. Also, Kawasaki's average sports car should be characterized by the current Japanese production lines.

In the reconstruction of Kardesign, the aesthetics of the Ninja 700 is inspired by that of the new ZX-10R, from which it should also receive the same technological equipment at the height of the RS 660.

Its price logically should be different from that of the current Ninja 650, a model that can be purchased by spending less than 8,000 euros: the improvement in terms of power, electronics, and chassis would force Kawasaki to raise the price towards 11,000 euros, in line with the 11,050 euros that the Aprilia RS 660 costs.
