Honda expands its electrified portfolio in Europe by presenting the new generation of HR-V. The compact SUV, which will be marketed by the end of 2021, will only be available in the full hybrid version and: HEV, with a system similar to that already seen on the Jazz. At the moment, however, the technical data of the powertrain have not yet been disclosed, as well as the prices.

A new face.  The Japanese company has placed a lot of attention on design and connectivity solutions. The HR-V, in fact, has radically changed its style, showing off unprecedented proportions and details. At the front, for example, there is a new grille in the same color as the bodywork and a central LED element that connects the thin optical groups, while the side, while confirming the choice of hiding the rear handle in the C-pillar, is cleaner and more linear. In the tail, however, we find tapered headlights that develop full width, interrupted only by the manufacturer's logo.

There are no official details on the Honda’s powertrain, but with references to the two-motor hybrid system, we expect it to use the same e: HEV set-up (it’s the third car in the Honda line-up to bear this badge) as in the firm’s Jazz supermini.

This would mean a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine combined with two electric motors. In the Jazz, this delivers a total of 108bhp, but the larger HR-V could get a higher total power figure.

However, only one electric motor propels the car directly – the propulsion motor. The other is connected to the petrol engine (the 1.5 unit also drives the front wheels directly through a CVT automatic gearbox) and is used as a generator to charge the car’s lithium-ion battery.

Latest generation infotainment.  The innovations continue in the passenger compartment, which embraces a minimalist philosophy and focuses on digitization. The first element worthy of note are the air vents, which extend from one end of the dashboard to the other, in the center of which stands the tablet-style infotainment screen and, just below, the physical controls of the air conditioning system. . Furthermore, the "Magic Seats" configuration of the outgoing model has been maintained, which allows the rear seats to be raised to load particularly tall or bulky objects. At the moment, however, further details relating to the capacity of the trunk and the new accessories have not yet been disclosed.
