New details on the fourth generation

Now only the camouflages remain to guard the secrets of the new Fabia, whose debut should be a matter of weeks. In the meantime, Skoda has in fact released further images of the car and released information regarding the dimensions, the range of engines, and the equipment that characterize the fourth generation of the Bohemian compact.

The dimensions. First of all, now we know what will be, in terms of measures, the results deriving from the use of the MQB-A0 platform, already given to the “cousins” Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza. In this new series, the Fabia gains 11 cm in length, almost five in width, and 9.4 in wheelbase, with values ​​rising to 4.11, 1.78, and 2.56 meters respectively. All this will result in more space available for passengers, especially in the second row, but the trunk also grows, going from the current 330 liters to 380 declared (for the five-door version) and reaching a value of 1,190 with the rear seats. folded up.

Gasoline only. 

The Evo engines then arrive in the bonnet, updated to contain emissions and consumption, two aspects on which Skoda has also worked by filing the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the Fabia, reduced to 0.28 (from 0.32), by redesigning some components, starting from the wheels, and using an actively regulating radiator damper. The range is made up of five petrol engines for powers between 65 and 150 HP, although the most powerful unit (the 150 HP 1.5 TSI) will not be offered in Italy. The choice in our country will therefore fall only on the three-cylinder, naturally aspirated MPI of 65 and 80 HP (combined with a 5-speed manual with a torque of 95 Nm) and turbo TSI of 95 and 110 HP with a torque of 175 Nm. 110 horsepower can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DSG.

Up to nine airbags.

 Other innovations include expanded safety equipment and unprecedented practical solutions for "living" the car. The fourth series of compact winged Arrow offers up to nine airbags, while the list of available Adas is extended with the Travel Assistant, the Side Assistant, and the Park Assistant. From other models of the House, then, derive the backrest of the folding front passenger seat, the pocket positioned under the cover of the luggage compartment, the additional USB C socket integrated into the internal rear-view mirror and, in the rear compartment, two smartphone pockets on the front seat backrests.

Here comes the digital instrumentation.

Even with the films still on, the Fabia already betrays in these images some characteristics of its renewed style, made more dynamic by sculpted lines and feline-cut lighting, which through technology makes the nose of the car more gritty. In fact, already in the access version, the LEDs are present for the main functions, while, on request, full LED headlights can be provided. However, images of the interiors have not yet been provided, in which the dashboard has been remodeled to emphasize the width of the passenger compartment, the Virtual Cockpit (optional) makes its debut and it is possible to add different decorations depending on the trim levels, which are three: Active, Ambition and Style.
