The blue Oval pick-up is also renewed in a sporty guise

After unveiling the new generation of the F-150 this summerFord shows the evil face of its most iconic pickup.

The Raptor version comes with a redesigned look and all-around updates, interior included.

It is equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo of the house, of which, however, details relating to power, torque, and performance have not been provided: the outgoing series reaches 450 hp and 692 Nm.

In 2022, Ford will launch a more powerful variant (Raptor R) equipped with a V8 engine, probably borrowed from the Mustang Shelby GT500.

How it is outside.

The F-150 Raptor sports an aggressive look with a style that, says the company, is inspired by fighter planes.

The sporty declination of the American pick-up can be recognized at first glance by some details such as the power dome on the hood, the dark grille, and the peculiar light signature of the LED headlights.

The special features also include specific air intakes on the bonnet and in the upper part of the fenders, for engine ventilation, redesigned taillights, and ad hoc bumpers: the rear one specially shaped to let the two tailpipes of the exhaust system emerge.

New rear suspension.

Under the skin, the V6 is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission, rear differential lock is standard, while the Torsen at the front is an option.

But the most important change concerns the suspensions, in particular, the five-link ones (specially designed and equipped with 24 '' coil springs) mounted at the rear. Available with 35-inch or 37-inch tires (from BFGoodrich All-Terrain T / A KO2 specs), in the most extreme configuration, the pick-up boasts approach angles of 33.1 degrees, exit angles of 24.9 degrees, and bump equal to 24.4 degrees.

The maximum payload increases over the previous generation, rising to 1,200 lbs.

One pedal guide.

Among the technologies for off-road driving is a new driving mode management system that offers seven options: Slippery, Tow / Haul, Sport, Normal, Off-Road, Baja, and Rock Crawl.

The system affects steering calibration, torque distribution, stability control, shock absorbers, gearbox logic, and other factors.

To tackle the toughest passages, you can also use the Trail 1-Pedal Drive, a function that allows you to proceed using only the accelerator pedal, which releases brakes according to how much the driver lifts his foot.

How it is inside. The interior of the Raptor, finally, evolves along the lines of those of the standard F-150.

Onboard the Sync 4 infotainment is standard, with updates available in Ota mode (over-the-air), smartphone wireless connectivity.

The stereo system is designed by Bang & Olufsen and, in addition to improved finishes, the passenger compartment has more closets where smaller items can be stowed. Recaro seats are also provided for the front seats.
