Ford Maverick begins to take shape the design of the new pickup

Load-bearing body, but full-size lines and details. It almost looks like a small F-150. Here are the new spy photos

In recent times in the USA, there have been sightings of more or less hidden vehicles that correspond to the new Ford Maverick. The Oval Blu self- supporting pickup is expected to be seen on the roads next year.

It will almost certainly be a model built on a Ford Bronco Sport chassis. As seen from the latest spy photos released, it will resemble the lines and "somatic features" more to the older brother F-150 than to the other member of the family, the Ranger, as we hypothesized in our recent rendering, modeled based on the elements that emerged from the first spy photos.

Defined shapes

Maverick will arrive at the end of the year to flesh out the range of Ford pickups: the first pre-series units have already left the assembly lines of the Mexican factory in Hermosillo at the beginning of March, where production itself, according to some sources, has even already begun. Meanwhile, the new photos captured during the tests, with fewer masked specimens, "visually" confirm the relationship with the Bronco Sport.

The shots reveal a familiar "face" with a similar appearance to that of the Bronco Sport. The headlights wrap around the turn signals connected across the grille, where Ford is likely to include the Maverick lettering just as it does on the Bronco Sport or the Blue Oval badge. The pickup sports a boxy design with jointed sheet metal. To the cabin and squared taillights. The lining along the bottom helps to reinforce its appearance.

Significant proportions, "small" size

The new series of spy photos also reveal some new things about the small truck. For example, an F-150 behind the pickup in some of the images gives a better idea of the actual size and aspect ratio between the two models.

The notable difference between this Maverick and the one in the previous spy photos is the front. This one has a mesh with small rectangles and vertical uprights, while the other had larger openings and a subtly hexagonal shape. Unfortunately, there isn't a photo that puts the Maverick directly next to the F-150. However, the proportions clearly show that the new carrier body pickup is slightly smaller than its chassis-equipped big brother and more "seated."

Range and positioning

In addition to the appearance, it will also have the Bronco Sports platform, which is also Escape. This means we'll likely see thrusters being shared as well. Maverick is expected to offer the 180PS, 240Nm 1.5-liter Ecoboost 3-cylinder turbocharged engine as the base engine, while the 2-liter, 250PS, and 373Nm 4-cylinder turbocharged Ecoboost will likely be optional. There will be a four-wheel drive, although it is unclear whether Ford will also build a base version with front-wheel drive only. And a hybrid is not to be excluded.
