An all-gold Polestar? Here is the unique presented in Shanghai

Only twenty-five copies are planned to pay homage to the Polestar 1, which will no longer produce at the end of the year.

Polestar unveiled a special edition of the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid at the Shanghai Motor Show to celebrate the end of production of the 1,500 units expected by the end of this year.

It is called "Gold Edition" and is a special edition which, as you can see from the photos and you can guess from the name, characterizes the car with golden finishes both outside - with a dedicated body color - and inside with matching stitching. The brake calipers are also gilded and branded Polestar, hidden behind specific black rims. Only twenty-five will be produced.

It's the plug-in hybrid that's going the extra mile in electricity.

For those unfamiliar with it, the Polestar 1 is a plug-in hybrid with 609 HP and 1,000 Nm of torque, with a range in 100% electric mode of about 124 km declared according to the WLTP homologation cycle, the highest among all rechargeable hybrids on tap. It is also very refined under the skin: the frame is made of carbon fiber, and two rear electric motors push at the rear. The brakes are signed by Akebono and the adjustable shock absorbers by Öhlins.

"It is hard to believe that the Polestar 1 will cease to be produced at the end of this year," commented Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar. "With her, we have gone very far not only in terms of engineering but also in terms of design.

The Polestar 1 has represented our brand very well globally, and its stylistic features are reflected in the Polestar 2, as they will be in the following models. We have neither designed it to compete with other cars nor to satisfy a specific target of customers. Polestar 1 is the work that shows everyone how far we can go ".
