New Honda Pilot
Evolved into a "Vezel" style front mask ... This is the next Honda "Pilot"!
In 2021, Honda introduced the "Vezel" (overseas name: HR-V) to the crossover market, but is currently embarking on the next model of the midsize SUV "Pilot" and obtained its rendering CG.
The first pilot was born in 2002, and the current model, which is the third generation, was released in 2015, which is the first full model change in seven years. We've seen prototypes with rigorous camouflage, but let's take a look at the details.
In the next model, the platform will be shared with the high-end SUV Acura "MDX", and the body may be expanded. Perhaps the wheelbase will be extended, the feet will be wider, and the backseats will be easier to get in and out.
At the front end, you can see the design inspired by the "Vezel", such as the slim headlights with a hexagonal wide grille and LED daytime running lights on the top.
It has a roofline with a gentle slope on the side, and the rear quarter window has a more remarkable kick-up design than the current model. A strip light connecting slim LE tail lights is placed at the rear, and it seems to be a design similar to the Vezel in the front.
The commercial powertrain uses the MDX 3.5-liter V-6 engine and delivers a maximum output of 290hp and a maximum torque of 362Nm via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The drive system of the entry model will be front-wheel drive, but the high-end version will be equipped with AWD. A newly developed double-wishbone front suspension is also used to provide better handling.
The next world premiere of the pilot is expected to be in the latter half of 2022, and it will compete with Toyota's "Highlander" in the market.
