IM Intelligence in Motion New EV Car from Alibaba Group

 New car brand from China: Zhiji Auto

Zhiji Auto is a joint venture between S A I C, the Pudong New Area in Shanghai,

 and the Alibaba Group.

 The English brand name is 'IM', which stands for Intelligence in Motion.

The press release says the usual stuff about data-driven, connectivity, and Artificial Intelligence. 

Well, guess we heard that one a billion times before so I won't detail it any further here.

Zhiji Auto will launch two electric cars, a sedan this year, and an SUV next year. 

The still nameless vehicles look very good for their kind, especially the sedan. 

The sedan will get 536 hp and 700 Nm. 

The battery is 93 kWh basic or 115 kWh optional. N E D C range is 874 kilometers.

 Zhiji has hired Williams to help with developing the chassis.

 Heatherwick Studio, an English design studio, has designed the cars and will also design the charging stations.

The interior of the sedan has a triple-screen setup with another screen in the center tunnel. 

The shape of the steering wheel is interesting, we are seeing that a lot on recent new Chinese cars.

All very promising indeed and the owners are well-funded, but brewing trouble at Alibaba could spell trouble for Zhiji Auto.
