2023 Toyota Tundra with Dark package

Toyota's full-size pickup truck "Tundra", MY2023 with a "dark" package!

On May 17, Toyota Motor Corporation's US division announced the 2023 model of the full-size pickup truck " Tundra " (Toyota Tundra). "SX package" is newly set.

◆ Aluminum wheels have a dark finish

The SX package will be available in the "SR5" grade "Double Cab" and "Crew Max". The drive system can be selected from 2WD and 4WD.

The SX package will be fitted with dark gray metallic 18-inch aluminum wheels. The door handle and rear bumper of the same color as the body have been changed to black. The tailgate "4x4" emblem has a black finish. The interior smoked silver trim has been changed to black.

The SX package comes in four body colors: white, magnetic gray metallic, celestial silver metallic, and midnight black metallic.

◆ V6 twin-turbo installed in the new Land Cruiser

A V-type 6-cylinder gasoline twin-turbo engine with a displacement of 3445cc will be standard. This V6 twin-turbo engine has an 85.5mm bore and a 100mm stroke and is equipped with a dual VVTi system. A water-cooled intercooler that suppresses the temperature rise of the turbocharger is also adopted.

This V6 twin-turbo engine has a maximum output of 389hp and a maximum torque of 66.3kgm. Compared to the conventional 5.7-liter V8 naturally-aspirated gasoline engine (maximum output 381hp, maximum torque 55.5kgm), the power and torque are significantly reduced while being significantly downsized.

This V6 twin-turbo engine was also installed in the new Land Cruiser. In the case of the Japanese version of the new Land Cruiser, the maximum output is 415ps and the maximum torque is 66.3kgm. The new Land Cruiser has also replaced the traditional V8 naturally aspirated engine with a downsized V6 twin-turbo engine.

◆ The latest multimedia has 5 times the processing power

Like the exterior, the interior reflects the concept of "technical muscle." I chose the horizontal layout instead of the vertical layout of many of the competing pickup trucks. This is in line with the design goal of matching the instrument panel and center console with the interior layout. Premium materials have been introduced, especially in areas that are often touched by occupants, with pads throughout the dashboard, doors, and other areas.

The latest Toyota Audio Multimedia System, which has five times the processing power of the conventional model, has an 8-inch touch screen in the center of the dashboard. A 14-inch touch screen can be selected as an option. In addition, the same pinch function and zoom function as smartphones and tablet terminals can be used. In consideration of the occupants wearing gloves in winter, the audio volume switch is a large dial type that is easy to grip. It is compatible with wireless Apple "CarPlay" and Google "Android Auto".

The trailer back guidance assists in towing a trailer such as a camper van, and the straight pass assist feature is designed to prevent the Tundra and trailer from bending into a dogleg when retreating. An optional 360-degree camera enhances visibility around the Tundra and trailer. When connected to Toyota's integrated trailer brake controller, the blind spot monitor can recognize the blind spot of the trailer.
