Lock on to Porsche 911! Mercedes AMG GT next model, 2.0 liter straight 4 also set?

Mercedes-Benz's high-performance brand AMG is currently developing the next model of its flagship 2-door coupe "GT Coupe", but its latest Prodrive has appeared at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The current GT coupe, which is the first generation, was introduced in 2014 as a successor model to the SLS and is finally replaced by the second generation. The prototype captured in Nürburgring still has strict camouflage, but the rear part is slightly lighter, and you can see the evolved headlights, the elegant roofline, and the silhouette of the long nose.

The suspension is equipped with a cross drill disc and a huge brake caliper, and you can see a part of the LED tail light slimmer than SL at the rear. Since the AMG GT uses a fixed roof instead of the roadster's power soft top, it seems to be lighter than the SL new model developed at the same time, and it becomes a 4-seater, and practicality is improved, while the GT is a 2-seater. It seems likely to inherit.

Inside the cabin, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a vertical 11.9-inch infotainment system, and an inclination that can be adjusted from 12 degrees to 32 degrees are expected to resemble the SL layout.

Like the SL, the powertrain is powered by two 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engines, with a maximum output of 469ps on the SL55 and 577ps on the SL63, but a maximum output of 476ps on the GT53, a maximum torque of 699Nm, and a maximum on the GT63. It is expected to deliver an output of 585ps and a maximum torque of 800Nm. However, due to strict emission regulations, a 2.0-liter in-line 4-cylinder lineup may be available, each equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an AMG Performance 4MATIC + all-wheel-drive system.

In addition, "SL63 E Performance" is placed at the top, and it seems that an electric motor will be combined with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that has a maximum output of 843ps and a maximum torque of 1400Nm.

The next world premiere of the GT Coupe is expected to be in the second half of this year or the first half of 2023 and will face the Porsche 911 in the market.
