Mini 2021 All the news of the restyling

Twenty years ago the modern Mini was born, that of the BMW family. Today, the latest generation is updated with a pencil tip restyling, certainly not screamed, but sufficient to make the small Anglo-German premium more modern and in step with the competition. The aesthetic novelties hide technical and safety updates that renew all versions: not only three-door and Cabriolet but also the big sister with five doors and the electric Cooper SE. Already orderable, the new Mini 2021 are offered in Italy with prices starting from 20,600 euros: the first deliveries are scheduled for next May.

Generous grille. The most evident detail is the new grille, more massive and imposing thanks to the glossy black frame (as an alternative to the standard chromed one), which extends to the lower air intake. The central part, reserved for the plate, abandons the classic black to become in the same color as the bodywork. Not only that, the fog lights that were integrated at the bottom gave way to two vertical louvers that improve the car's aerodynamic efficiency. Thus revised, the new front gives a different view, cleaner and more modern than in the past.

Led headlights as standard. The rear also gains glossy black inserts and incorporates the front motif for the lower part around the exhausts, eliminating the two rear fog lights, replaced by a single light point, in the center of the bumper, just above the exhausts. All the lighting of the Mini 2021 uses LED technology, including direction indicators. If desired, there is also the possibility of having the Matrix Led front headlights with a turning function and automatic high beams.

Never seen a roof like this. Mini has always rhymed with the customization and the latest restyling is certainly no exception. The novelty is the new optional multi-tone roof. Made with an innovative painting technique, developed in the Oxford plant, it has shades ranging from San Marino Blue to Pearly Aqua to Jet Black. A particular technique which, by creating slight differences in color transitions, offers each customer an almost unique roof. The classic Jet Black, Aspen White, and Melting Silver variants remain on the list, in addition to the John Cooper Works Chili Red. The palette of colors for the bodywork is enriched with three new colors: Rooftop Gray, Island Blue metallic, and Zesty Yellow, the latter initially available only for the Cabrio.

All piano black. Not enough, there are five new designs to choose from for the alloy wheels: 17-inch (Tentacle Spoke, Scissor Spoke previously only available for the MINI Convertible Sidewalk Edition and in a black version of the Pedal Spoke variant) or 18-inch in design Pulse Spoke, with a two-tone look. In the passenger compartment, too, it turns out that the number of chrome elements has been significantly reduced in favor of glossy black: air vents, dashboard buttons, and 8.8-inch screen trims are all in piano black. There is also a new seat and dashboard upholstery, an optional electric parking brake, and a newly designed three-spoke leather sports steering wheel offered as standard. The picture is completed by new colors for the ambient lights and the optional screen of the digital instrumentation with 5 panels,

Security revised but not at the top.  Lane change warning makes its debut on the Mini 2021, active from 70 to 210 km / h. Still absent the maintenance of the lane, now widespread on many small ones, even at a much lower price. Also part of the list of driving aids is adaptive cruise control, now with Stop / Go function which, working from 30 to 140 km / h, not only automatically maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front, but can stop automatically the car.

Here engines. The range of engines remains unchanged which, as for the previous model, relies on the three-cylinder 1.5-liter petrol engine in the variants of 75 HP or 102 of the One versions, and the 136 HP of the Cooper. We then move on to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder of the 178 bhp Cooper S, while the JCW with its 231 bhp remains at the top of the range as usual. For all (excluding electric), six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
