Toyota Motor Corporation's European division announced on June 10 that the concept car " Toyota Compact Cruiser EV" won the " 2022 Car Design Award ". Along with this, new photos of the compact cruiser EV have been released.

The Compact Cruiser EV was world premiered in December 2021 at Toyota's new strategy presentation on EVs. Toyota plans to launch 30 EVs in the global market by 2030, and 16 EVs, mainly concept cars, have been released. One of them is the compact cruiser EV. It was designed mainly by the team of "Toyota ED2 (Toyota Europe Design Development") of Toyota's European design division based in Nice, France.

Looking at the compact cruiser EV, some may recall the "FJ Cruiser," which Toyota discontinued in 2017. The FJ Cruiser was launched in North America in the spring of 2006. The motif of the Toyota "Land Cruiser" (FJ40 type), a famous car from the 1960s, was popular as a unique SUV that was reflected in the design, but production was discontinued in 2017.

In the compact cruiser EV, the round headlights that were a feature of the FJ Cruiser have been replaced with slim square headlights that use the latest LED technology. On the other hand, the features of the FJ Cruiser are inherited by the blue body color, resin black bumper and fender extension, square door mirrors, and thick rear pillars.
