Lexus ES restyling, the luxury sedan, does the trick

Mid-career update for the Japanese that confirms an elegant look and complete equipment for technology and safety

The Lexus ES receives the first update after its debut in 2019. Also, the Japanese sedan still focuses on luxury, technology, and safety with a renewed style and a series of new options in the list of accessories for the restyled version.

Elegance is updated

From an aesthetic point of view, the ES restyling is distinguished by new characterizing elements. We find a new design of the bi-LED headlights and a retouched grille in the details with Graphite color finishes in the front.

Also new are the sets of alloy wheels available in both 17 "and 18" variants. In the richer set-ups, the 18" wheels are designed to minimize rolling noise. The F Sport version, on the other hand, is equipped with 19" five-spoke wheels with black finishes that accentuate the sportiness of the ES.

The F Sport trim level is also available with the Dynamic Handling package, including Sport + and Custom driving modes and adaptive high-performance shock absorbers.

The range of colors adds Iridium and Cloudburst Gray to the already present black, F Sport white, dark gray, Ecru, silver, red, Sunlight Green, Sonic Titanium, Graphite Black, and Sapphire Blue.

Do not give up on luxury.

The passenger compartment maintains the Lexus "Seat in Control" concept, according to which the driver can access all the controls and functions of the car simply and intuitively.

The design of the instrument panel has been updated, but the main change concerns the multimedia system. The 8" screen (also available in a 12.3" version) has been moved towards the driver by about 10 cm and fully touched. However, to manage the infotainment menus, you can also use the classic command located in the central tunnel.

Various options are available for upholstery in black, red, white, and beige leather and wood and brushed aluminum details.

Driving safety and experience

The Lexus Safety System + 2.5 package is equipped as standard on all trim levels. That includes essential collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, intersection assistance with autonomous braking in a potential collision, and active lane-keeping.

There is also the adaptive cruise control with the Stop&Go function. The system is helpful in motorway traffic jams and traffic light queues by stopping the car and restarting it autonomously.

According to Lexus, the driving experience has also improved overall. The ES is equipped with new rear suspension arms that make the car more stable and comfortable, while regenerative braking has been further refined.

Europe market will remain available only in the full hybrid version with 2.5 4 cylinders coupled to an electric motor for a total power of 218 HP. However, in the United States, the Lexus is also offered with 4 and 6 cylinder petrol engines.

The facelifted Lexus ES will arrive in dealerships this fall. Prices have yet to be officially disclosed.
