The ten fastest electric cars in 0-100 km/h

In the cue from a standstill, the EVs have breathtaking performance: here are the models that tick the best times. And the top 3 is under 3 seconds.

If there is one element that identifies the world of electricity in terms of performance, that is undoubtedly the torque value released immediately.

In "popular culture," the classic 0-100 worthy of a drag race has approached with technology like the electric one more "human," which manages to blend technical simplicity with astonishing performances for those who are starting to come this. Supply.

The snapshot from a standstill

Here, together with our colleagues from InsideEVs US, we took a cue from the burning accelerations of the EVs to have fun seeing which are, to date, the fastest electric cars in the starting point. We decided to take all the most closed versions within the ranking, thus sacrificing the performance of a less performing version. The reason? The market offer would have risked creating a substantial ranking monopoly on Tesla's part.

The classic 0-100 but not only

A further element of analysis that must underline concerns measurement. In America, there is no 0-100, as much as 0-60 miles which correspond to 96.5 km/h. The survey is the offspring of US analyzes. While waiting to be able to carry them out autonomously once the Lockdown period is over, we have also included, in the report, the 0-100 that is most suited to us Europeans.

Here are the ten fastest electric cars in 0-60 miles and 0-100km/h.

1. Tesla Model S Performance S 19 '' - 2.4 seconds

585 kW or, speaking of HP, 785, but above all 967 Nm of torque for the high-end sedan from Musk, with its permanent magnet motor and 19-inch wheels that allowed a 0-60 miles detachment in just 2.4 seconds, 2.6 for the 0-100.

The Tesla Model S has been competing for some time, in its Plaid version, with the Porsche Taycan for the title of fastest electric car - net of the next future Hypercars - with a challenge on the Nurburgring circuit that led to titles and blows and answers. At 0-100, however, the title belongs to her.

2. Porsche Taycan Turbo S - 2.6 seconds

The great challenger of Model S Performance takes the second position in this particular acceleration ranking. The first electric Porsche - which we had the opportunity to drive during its presentation - has a maximum power of 460 kW, 617 HP. Still, above all, a torque value of 1051 Nm released on all-wheel-drive by its permanent magnet motor. At 0-60 miles, the Turbo S closes in 2.6 seconds, two tenths more for 0-100 km/h.

3. Tesla Model X Performance LM - 2.7 seconds

On our test track in the United States, it was the protagonist of an unusual Drag Race in the company of Model 3 and Model Y, just on the occasion of the launch of the latter. The Tesla Model X Performance manages to close 0-60 miles in 2.7 seconds, 2.9 seconds at 0-100 km/h. It results from an engine capable of delivering 785 hp, 585 kW, and a torque value of 967 Nm.

Of course, the weight compared to the Model S goes up, reaching 2509 kg. On the other hand, it is a J-segment crossover.

There are no official readings on 0-100 km/h, which should be around 3.7 seconds. The Tesla Model Y manages to unleash 450 hp (336 kW) of maximum power and a torque of 639 Nm, values identical to those of the Model 3, but with a weight of 150 kilograms more significant on the scale.

6. Jaguar I-Pace - 4.5 seconds

The car of the year 2019 is positioned immediately behind the Tesla battleship, with 0-60 miles in 4.5 seconds and a 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
