Ford Evos, here is the heir to the Mondeo

Sporty design, 27" 4K touchscreen, and hybrid powertrain: the new model takes Ford into the future

Goodbye, Ford Mondeo. At the Shanghai Motor Show, the Blue Oval has unveiled the Evos, a particular cross between a station wagon and an SUV, which incorporates the philosophy of "unconventional" of Citroen C5 X.

The presentation in Shanghai is not accidental given that the Evos will be the first Ford model developed almost entirely by a Chinese team and by the joint venture between the American company and the Changan company.

Sharp and technological

The Evos has aggressive shapes with a large glossy black grille and slim LED headlights. The black details are also found in the grille, moldings, roof, and mirrors. The muscular side houses generous 19" wheels through which the orange brake calipers can be seen.

In the cockpit, the dashboard is dominated by a series of 1.1-meter screens. The 12.3" digital dashboard is flanked by a 27" 4K resolution touch panel. The idea seems to be the same as the little Honda and given that even in the interior of the electric city car, there are several monitors in front of the driver.

The software of the infotainment system is Sync + 2.0 and is equipped with artificial intelligence. Like the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 pickup, the Evos also supports over-the-air upgrades. Therefore, to keep the software up-to-date, it is not necessary to go to an authorized workshop.

The heir of the Mondeo?

Ford has not disclosed further details regarding the arrival on the market. Evos is expected to replace versions of the Mondeo in Europe and North America. Production of the Mondeo will end in March 2022 after approximately 270,000 units registered on the Italian market in a 30-year career.

The technical specifications also remain a mystery. However, from the photos released, it is easy to imagine that it will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Given the growing offerings of electric models, we wouldn't be surprised to see a zero-emission variant as well.
