The special edition of the GT-R is lighter and optimized for track use but will only be sold in Japan.

The Nissan GT-R never seems to get old. The Japanese supercar has been on sale since 2008, and, apart from a few tweaks over the years, its forms have remained virtually unchanged.

Nissan has capitalized on its success with several unique models and versions, and the latest addition to the family is the Nissan GT-R Nismo MY2022.

Derived from racing

It could say that Nismo represents Nissan what AMG and M represent for Mercedes and BMW. Nismo is Nissan's internal division dedicated to tuning and motorsport, and from here, the most aggressive models have always come out, including those designed for the road and racing.

The GT-R Nismo MY2022 is recognized for the exclusive Stealth Gray color inspired by the colors of racing GT-Rs. The particular version of the Nissan has many unpainted carbon fiber elements to minimize the car's weight. Nissan claims that in the hood alone, without applying the color, 100 grams were saved compared to a traditional GT-R.

On the side, you can see the 20" aluminum-alloy wheels with red accents, which reflect the details of the body. Through the rims, you can see the Brembo braking system with 410 mm discs on the front wheels and 390 mm in the rear (the largest ever fitted to a Japanese car).

Refined mechanics

Under the bonnet, there is the "usual" 3.8 V6 600 HP with two turbochargers derived from the car competing in the GT3 championship. Each engine is handcrafted and bears the signature of the craftsman who assembled it.

The powertrain has been updated with new components, including piston seats, driveshaft, and belts, to increase durability during extended track use. Performance remains exceptionally high with a top speed of 315 km / h and a 0-100 km / h sprint of 2.8 seconds.

"With the GT-R Nismo we have always sought ultimate driving pleasure," commented Hiroshi Tamura, product expert on the GT-R. "We tried to achieve an even higher level of performance with more balanced engine components and lower overall weight," continued the executive.

The Nismo and another special edition (not detailed by Nissan) will only be available in Japan from October.
